While many The Curse of Oak Island fans have delighted in watching the Lagina brother’s adventures, the show never really has delivered on the promise of its core concept. After all, Rick and Marty Lagina haven’t found Oak Island’s treasure. Unfortunately, as it turns out, at this point there are obvious reasons to believe that Oak Island’s treasure may never be found at all.

Have Rick And Marty Lagina Found Any Oak Island Treasure?

As fans of The Curse of Oak Island will already know by now, Marty and Rick Lagina have spent years trying to find treasure. The reason for that is the Lagina brothers have come to believe legends that treasure is buried on Oak Island. According to those legends, the treasure stems either from Captain Kidd, the Spanish, or the knight’s templar burying their riches there. If the legend is true, it makes sense that the Lagina brothers have put so much work into an effort that could someday make them the richest “reality” stars of all time.

Unfortunately for Rick and Marty Lagina, they haven’t found the kind of treasure they have been trying to discover for years at this point. However, that isn’t to say that the Lagina brothers have come up completely empty. After all, the siblings have come across a few remarkable items during their treasure hunting efforts.

Of all the things that Marty and Rick Lagina have found during their adventures, the most noteworthy has to be a 500-year-old gold and copper broach with a stone they discovered. When they found the broach, they hoped the stone was a ruby since that would have made the broach an expensive piece of jewelry. Unfortunately for the siblings, however, their hopes were dashed when it turned out to be a garnet. On top of the broach, the Lagina brothers have also found a cross from between 1200 and 1600 A.D., some bone fragments, and several 200-year-old coins.

Why The Oak Island Treasure May Never Be Found

Now that nine seasons of The Curse of Oak Island have aired on A&E, some of the show’s followers have become frustrated. For example, Reddit user u/KindaSleuthy went on the r/OakIsland subreddit to express their opinion that even Marty and Rick Lagina no longer seem invested in finding the treasure.

“The Bro’s aren’t even pretending to be serious. They phoned it in. Based upon speculation about a thin piece of metal and speculation about the “stone road” they laid the bombshell that the Depositors were Portuguese Knights of the Templar. They seem to have forgotten that over 70 artifacts found on the island are British!”

Based on what u/KindaSleuthy has observed, it seems possible that even Rick and Marty Lagina have given up on their past hopes of finding treasure. However, a single viewer’s perception of the Lagina brothers’ attitudes is far from enough to conclude that the siblings will never find treasure. However, there are other reasons to conclude the Oak Island treasure may never be found.

One of the main reasons that people have come to believe there is a trove of treasure on Oak Island is the tales about riches being buried there. Based on the legend that claims that is the case, it is impossible for the Lagina brothers to currently find the treasure. After all, only six people have lost their lives trying to find the treasure and according to the legend, the riches can only be found once seven people die trying to find them.

Of course, there is nothing scientific about buying into a supposed curse so it would make sense if most people laugh that part of the search for Oak Island’s treasure off. However, believing in a curse doesn’t seem much stranger than buying into tales of buried treasure on Oak Island.

On top of the legends that claim there is treasure buried on Oak Island, there is another reason some people believe that is the case. There is a story that claims that an Oak Island teenager noticed an indentation in the ground in 1795. Wanting to know what caused the indentation, the teen began digging and discovered wooden platforms buried deep underground and a shaft they believed was man-made.

In the years since then, most believers in the treasure legends have come to think that riches will be found in the shaft which is now known as the “money pit”. However, there are a lot of people who believe that the “money pit” was formed naturally and if that is the case, there is no reason to believe there is anything special contained in it. After all, shafts can be found underground all over the world.
